1. Conformance Standards

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

पुशो के पोहे aims to substantially conform to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard across all core reading interfaces, informational pages, and navigational components.

2. Key Accessibility Implementations

To deliver an inclusive reading experience, we have integrated the following assistive design features:

• Keyboard Navigation: All primary interactive elements—including the book reader, audio toggles, dialogs, and navigation buttons—are fully accessible via keyboard. Users can turn pages using the ← and → arrow keys and dismiss overlays using Escape.
• Semantic Document Structure: Pages employ hierarchical HTML5 headings (<h1> through <h4>), semantic landmarks (<nav>, <main>, <article>, <footer>), and descriptive link text to assist screen reader users.
• Contrast & Readability: High contrast color schemes are maintained between text elements and parchment or cosmic backgrounds. The typography pairs legible Devanagari web fonts (Mukta, Tiro Devanagari) with high visual clarity.
• Reduced Motion Support: CSS transitions and ambient animations (such as the flickering diya flame and background particle drift) respect the user's operating system preferences via the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
• Auditory Controls: Background instrumental audio tracks never auto-play without user interaction, and provide prominent, one-click mute/unmute toggles with clear ARIA labels.

3. Compatibility with Assistive Technologies

The Platform is designed to be compatible with modern operating systems and assistive utilities, including:

• NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) on Windows
• JAWS on Windows
• VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
• TalkBack on Android
• Standard browser zoom scaling up to 200% without loss of core textual content

4. Known Limitations & Ongoing Remediation

Despite our best efforts to ensure full accessibility, certain legacy or third-party components may present temporary limitations:

• 3D Turn.js Book Physics: While Turn.js provides a realistic page-turning visual experience, highly complex DOM transformations during active curls may temporarily confuse certain screen readers. We provide textual fallbacks and readable transcript views to mitigate this.
• Third-Party Video Embeds: Closed captions and audio descriptions for external YouTube and Instagram clips are dependent on the original creators' video uploads on those third-party platforms.
